Governor Cuomo, Mayor DeBlasio and other local officials have instituted a ban on surface travel in New York City, Nassau & Suffolk Counties, beginning at 2:30pm. Port Authority Hudson River Crossings will be closed as well. In addition, MTA NYC Bus Service has been suspended as of 12 noon, and surface subway lines running above ground will stop running at 4pm, as will Metro-North and LIRR service, due to switch and power issues. Underground service will continue.
As much as two feet of snow could fall over New York City and the nearby suburbs before the storm tapers off tonight.
